Anne Harrop

Director of Research and Policy

Appointed in June 2002, Anne Harrop joined the Foundation from the Cabinet Office where she was responsible for supporting Government Departments to develop evidenced based policy making.

Prior to this, she was deputy head of the Social Research Branch at the Department for Work and Pensions. She was previously a Principal Research Manager at the then Department of Social Security with responsibility for developing a programme of research to support the delivery of benefits.

Her career started as an academic researcher at the Age Concern Institute of Gerontology, University of London before working at the Thomas Coram Research Unit, Kings College London. She has a degree in African and Asian Studies (University of Sussex) and an MSc in Demography (London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine).

She is a member of the UK Strategic Forum on Social Sciences, University of Loughborough’s Centre for Research on Social Policy Advisory Committee, UK Funder’s Forum.
