Director of Communications

Appointed in August 2000, Julia Lewis started her employment with the Joseph Rowntree Foundation as Head of Publishing moving on to become Deputy Director of Policy Development & Communications. She was appointed Director of Communications in March 2008.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Julia was Head of Publishing at Save the Children. She worked as Publishing Manager at the Child Poverty Action Group having previously worked as Press & Information Officer for the African Medical & Research Foundation. She began her career in the commercial publishing sector. Julia has undertaken consultancy work in the higher education sector related to publishing and marketing.

She has served as a member of the Board of Trustees for the World Development Movement and is now a School Governor.
