Our new research shows the importance of children and parents' attitudes, aspiration and behaviours in the attainment gaps between richer and poorer children. It highlights four key areas:
- The home learning environment for three year olds
- Parents and children believing their own actions can make a difference to their lives
- Aspirations for university (for parents of primary aged children as well as older ones)
- Behaviour problems and bullying
However, the research doesn't tell us much about:
- How far can these things be changed?
- If we manage to change them, how much would results really improve?
- What is currently being done at local and national levels, and how much difference is it making?
- What other ideas should we be trying out?
Please tell us what you think below.
