Clarification regarding the political independence of the JRF

The Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) and Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust (JRHT) are two independent charities that work together to understand the root causes of social problems, identify ways of overcoming them, and show how social needs can be met in practice.

JRF and JRHT have no political affiliations and work in partnership with all sectors – private, public and voluntary.

Whilst sharing the same founder, JRF and JRHT are completely separate from the Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust Ltd (JRRT). The JRRT is a company which pays tax on its income and funds political and campaigning groups. It has given grants to the Liberal Democrats and many campaigning organisations promoting democratic reform and civil liberties.
