Plaxton Court will have a show property open for viewing from Monday 3 September and will start accepting reservations from 10 September. Built exclusively for older people currently living within the boundaries of Scarborough Borough Council, Plaxton Court is named in memory of F W (Eric) Plaxton, former Chairman of the Plaxton Group, and has been developed by the Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust.
Located at Woodlands Vale, close to Scarborough Town Centre, Plaxton Court is a retirement housing community - an increasingly popular choice for older people. Plaxton Court is designed to enable people to retain their independence in later life, with support and personal care available if they need it. Additional community facilities, including a restaurant, coffee bar, shop, hair salon and healthy living suite, offer the opportunity to take part in social and leisure activities.
Plaxton Court will open in late spring 2008 and has 53 one- and two-bedroom apartments and 16 three-bedroom cottages available for rent, part-ownership or outright sale. This mix of tenure means that it will be affordable to a wider range of people, which is great news for the local community.
Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust's Director of Care Services, John Kennedy, said:
"We are delighted to have had the opportunity to create this landmark development in Scarborough. Plaxton Court is an excellent housing option for older people who require some support, as well as those who want to plan ahead for their possible needs in the future."
The on-site show apartment will be open daily for people to look round and pick up an information pack. People unable to visit the show property straightaway can request a pack by ringing 01723 341005.
