Show properties will open for viewing from Thursday 18 October at Hartfields, the new retirement housing community for people aged 60-plus living in the Hartlepool area. The first residents of the 242 homes will move in when the first phase of the development is completed early next summer.
The homes – a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments and two- bedroom cottages – will be available to rent, part-own or buy. Living in their own homes, residents can retain their independence while having access to 24-hour on-site care and support when the need arises.
Hartfields' impressive range of communal facilities includes a restaurant and cafe bar, health activity centre with fully equipped gym and spa pool, convenience grocery store, arts and crafts workshop, library with IT suite, and a hairdressing salon.
Hartfields is a partnership between the Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust, Hartlepool Borough Council, Hartlepool Primary Care Trust (PCT) and North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Trust.
John Kennedy, Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust's Director of Care Services, said: “We are excited to be developing Hartfields. We believe that Hartfields village will become a valuable part of the Hartlepool community and be a real benefit for older people in the town.”
Nicola Bailey, Hartlepool Borough Council's Director of Adult and Community Services, added: “The Hartfields development offers real opportunities for people to make active choices about how they wish to plan for their future. The scheme will enable people to remain in their own homes for as long as they wish, to remain active and part of a vibrant community.”
The on-site show homes will be open daily between 10am and 4pm for people to look round and pick up an information pack. People unable to visit the show properties can request an information pack by ringing 01429 244179 or emailing Hartfields@jrf.org.uk.
