Recent community care legislation and alterations to local authority funding arrangements have resulted in major changes to local authority charges for domiciliary care services. A new qualitative study by Mark Chetwynd and Jane Ritchie of Social and Community Planning Research and Lorna Reith and Marilyn Howard of The Disability Alliance examines disabled people's experiences of new and increased charges for local authority non-residential care. It looks at the choices that users make in the context of these charges and points to ways in which charging policy and practice might be improved.
