Lone mothers in the United Kingdom are much less likely to be in employment than those in many other industrialised countries.

A new study by Jonathan Bradshaw and colleagues at the Social Policy Research Unit, University of York, examined factors that encourage and discourage lone mothers to find work in 20 countries.
