Policy shifts, institutional closures and changing expectations have resulted in many and diverse arrangements for housing and support. Focusing on services for people with relatively high levels of need, Pick and mix looks at the resource implications of different forms of provision.
Identifying sixteen types or combinations of housing and support, the study explores the costs and resource requirements of the various models and compares the potential benefits to individuals and the cost-effectiveness of different approaches. The researchers conclude that the wider development of more personalised services would allow both greater flexibility for individuals and greater cost-effectiveness.
