Involving people who use services in their planning and implementation has been a key development of the last decade. Involving children rather than adults in research and development projects aimed at improving their lives and the services they receive entails particular ethical and practical issues.
This study identifies key issues of concern and summarises existing work which addresses them. Covering all stages of a project, from planning and consultancy through interviewing to dissemination, it outlines possible strategies and provides a checklist for use by all those wishing to undertake work in this area.
