A significant number of teenage parents have experienced disadvantaged childhoods, and after the birth of their children their standard of living was below average, according to recent research. Kathleen Kiernan of the London School of Economics used longitudinal data from the National Child Development Study to investigate the social, economic and educational backgrounds of young parents and to examine their post-birth experiences.
