A survey of group-based parenting schemes

The last decade has seen a growing interest in the support that parents need in order to bring up their children. A study by Celia Smith and Gillian Pugh reports on group-based parenting programmes, a form of support which has grown rapidly in the UK over the last 5-10 years. The study finds that, although the programmes are popular with parents, more rigorous evaluation is required before their long-term effects can be gauged.
