Introduction
The Commission on Rural Housing in Wales is an independent body set up by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation.
The Commission was asked to take existing and new evidence to establish a series of insights and recommendations for all policy makers and practitioners, in order to:
- take the issue of housing needs in rural Wales forward;
- aid the process of building consensus on the solutions to identified problems.
Following a series of evidence sessions, public consultation events, a written consultation exercise and one-to-one meetings, the Commission has published its final report. This report highlights the scale of housing need in rural Wales and offers a set of proposals to meet this.
While this work is focused specifically on Wales, it is likely to be of interest to those working in similar fields in other areas of the UK.
The Commissioners and the JRF would like to thank all those who took the time to contribute to the work.
The JRF provided the Commission with funding and secretarial support.
