The aim of the programme is to support research and other work in order to have an impact on negative drinking cultures and patterns among young people in the UK.

In order to do this the programme has begun by focusing on how drinking cultures are transmitted - within families and peer groups and through geographical location and the media. This greater understanding of the transmission of drinking cultures will be used to identify those approaches that will be most effective in impacting on negative drinking patterns.
