Davine is a single parent, and quite well known across the voluntary sector in Manchester. Her lived experience allows her to shine a light on poverty and help others who have found themselves being swept away by its currents in their own lives.

She comes from a working-class background, and her parents were part of the Windrush generation, who were invited to Britain to find work - her mother in the NHS and her father as a supervisor in a factory.
