Katharine Knox

Katharine's areas of expertise are the social impacts of climate change in the UK and refugee and immigration history and experiences in Britain.

She manages the following research programmes at the Foundation:

  • Climate change and social justice
  • Derwenthorpe new housing community

She has also led work for JRF on community assets, regeneration and public spaces. 

Katharine's background is in social and public policy research in the voluntary and public sectors, as well as a brief stint in academia. Katharine previously worked in communications and research roles at the Refugee Council and the Audit Commission. Before this she co-authored the first history of refugees in twentieth-century Britain with Professor Tony Kushner at the University of Southampton.

Katharine has an MSc in Integrated Environmental Management from the University of Surrey.
