Time for action - Poverty in Scotland 2021

Live zoom webinar
Monday 04 October 2021 -
10:00 to 11:00

The event covered JRF publishing its independent, annual state of the nation report setting out the nature and scale of poverty that preceded the pandemic and looks ahead to the solutions we should aim for in the recovery and beyond.

As part of the Challenge Poverty week the Joseph Rowntree Foundation took a look at this event to hear about the key findings and to listen to the voices behind the data and discuss the bold action that is required to reshape the economy and create a Scotland free from the grip of poverty.

There are solutions – we can re-build and reshape our economy to work better for all of us – but it will take bold action and real commitment from employers, housing providers, Governments and communities themselves to make it happen. The time for this bold action is now.

Webinar speakers were

  • Chris Birt, Associate Director for Scotland, Joseph Rowntree Foundation (Chair)
  • Carla Cebula, Senior Analyst (Scotland), Joseph Rowntree Foundation
  • Shona Robison MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Housing and Local Government
