A new study has identified a number of causes of stress at work, as well as two factors - good team work and supportive management - which act to ameliorate job stress and dissatisfaction.

The study of local authority residential care workers in three localities in the North West of England was conducted by a team from Lancaster University.

The carers worked in a variety of settings - residential homes, small group homes and outreach teams, and cared for a range of user groups - children and young people, elderly people, and those with learning disabilities, mental illnesses, and physical disabilities.
