Moving from hospital into the community: an evaluation by people with learning difficulties

Alice Etherington, Brian Stocker and Andrea Whittaker

Recent community care legislation means that more people with learning difficulties are moving out of hospital and living in the community.

Services are working in very different ways. This could mean that some people are better off, but some may be worse off.

People First - an organisation run by and for people with learning difficulties - did an evaluation of services in the London Boroughs of Haringey and Sutton, looking at the ways people are helped to leave hospital and what their lives are like in the community.
