Neighbourhood images in East London

Vicky Cattell and Mel Evans

This report is one of four studies examining residents' own perceptions of their neighbourhoods, their experience of living in these localities, and their aspirations.

The studies also explore the impact of, and level of participation in, local regeneration initiatives. Other reports in the series look at Nottingham, Liverpool and Teesside. A separate report offers a comprehensive overview of all four projects. This particular study explores the perceptions, expectations and aspirations of residents on two estates in Nottingham.

In addition to themes common to all four projects, it looks at how attitudes and perceptions differ between generations, and how available resources and current regeneration policies contribute to a sense of community.
