Neighbourhood images in Nottingham

Richard Silburn, Dan Lucas, Robert Page and Lynn Hanna

This report on two inner-city Nottingham neighbourhoods is one of four studies examining residents' own perceptions of their neighbourhoods, their experience of living in these localities, and their aspirations.

The studies also explore the impact of, and level of participation in, local regeneration initiatives. Other reports in the series look at East London, Liverpool and Teesside. A separate report offers a comprehensive overview of all four projects. This particular study explores the perceptions, expectations and aspirations of residents on two estates in Nottingham.

In addition to themes common to all four projects, it examines the effectiveness of earlier initiatives; the part informal social networks and community groups can play in regeneration partnerships; and the particular opportunities and difficulties faced by minority ethnic groups.
