Neighbourhood images in Teesside

Martin Wood and Clive Vamplew

This report is one of four studies examining residents' own views of their neighbourhoods, their experience of living in these localities, and their aspirations.

The studies also explore the impact of, and level of participation in, local regeneration initiatives. Other reports in the series look at East London, Nottingham and Liverpool. A separate report, offers a comprehensive overview of all four projects. This particular study explores the perceptions, expectations and aspirations of residents on two estates in Teesside.

In addition to themes common to all four projects, it focuses on differences between active and non-active residents and between new and long-term residents; and the effect of tenure diversification on community activity.
