The winter 2008 issue of JRF's quarterly magazine considers the impact of the recession on disadvantaged people in the UK.

Even before the recession began, recent JRF research had shown that progress on tackling poverty in Scotland appears to have peaked, and that child poverty is costing the UK billions of pounds. Other featured work includes:

  • Modern 'social evils' - what are the key problems affecting society today?
  • A Minimum Income Standard for the 21st century - what are the public's views on an acceptable standard of living?
  • Care from the community? - does the wider community have a role in delivering long-term care and support?
  • Regeneration - what we can learn from the regeneration of former industrial cities in Europe?
