Understanding and preventing youth crime

The time is ripe for community-based initiatives to reduce the risks of crime, drug abuse and other anti-social behaviour among young people, according to this review by Professor David Farrington of the Institute of Criminology, Cambridge.

He concludes that the most effective strategies will be those based on a rigorous assessment of local risk and which look at promoting pro-social behaviour and healthy development as well as preventing drug misuse and crime.
