Unemployment and housing tenure
Home ownership, backed by mortgage finance, has spread through all social classes during the 1980s.
This detailed study of the links between social class, housing tenure, employment status and household composition concludes that there has been a significant increase in the proportion of mortgagors who are at risk of experiencing unemployment.
