JRF commissioned this paper as part of its programme on poverty and ethnicity, which aims to understand the underlying reasons for variations in low income and deprivation among different ethnic groups in the UK and the problems caused. The paper accompanies the JRF report Poverty and Ethnicity in Northern Ireland, and it explores evidence of poverty among people from minority ethnic groups from 2001 onwards, identifying gaps in the evidence base for minority ethnic groups in Northern Ireland.
