Reducing poverty through policies to cut the cost of living
This paper outlines the Institute of Economic Affairs’ (IEA) approach to reducing poverty, and is one of three studies from different think tanks contributing ideas to the development of JRF’s anti-poverty strategy for the UK.
It proposes reforms to policies which affect the markets in five areas, to reduce the cost of living:
- housing;
- energy;
- childcare;
- food and ‘sin’ taxes.
